Navajo 4" Painted Medicine Shield
Handcrafted by Navajo Artist Gene George from Sweetwater, Arizona who is shown on the tag.
Made from soft deerskin leather painted with a unique design and decorated with feathers and metal beads.
Traditionally a Medicine Shield would have acted as a warrior’s physical & spiritual protection. ‘Medicine’ means having sacred and powerful energy. It would have been made from cured buffalo rawhide, a really tough material.
Each warrior created their own shield following a vision quest and would incorporate elements that were relevant to them, often relating to their personal power animal - fur, bone etc; painted with symbols and decorated with feathers, shells fabric etc.
Use this mini-shield as a base to personalise with pieces that relate to yourself and your journey.
The pattern may vary slightly from those shown in the pictures.
Measures approx 10cm diameter and 25cm long excluding the deerskin hanger.
Comes to you wrapped in our signature pale blue tissue paper.
This Navajo product is an authentic item purchased from a company trading locally on
Navajo Nation land in New Mexico.

PACKAGING
All small orders are sent in Jiffy Green padded envelopes which have a 100% recycled paper fibre lining and are fully recyclable, biodegradable, and compostable!! Wherever possible we re-use packaging (cardboard boxes, newspapers, bubble wrap etc) as a way of keeping postage costs down and of benefiting the environment.
We can supply you with unpackaged smudge sticks if you prefer. Please let us know when you place your order
RETURNS POLICY
We offer refunds as follows:If you have changed your mind you may return your item(s) within 14 days of delivery. Items must be complete, undamaged and in original packaging. Once we receive the item in unused condition we will immediately refund the cost of your purchase. You pay postage in this instance. We do not currently offer exchanges, if you desire a different item please re-order.
If an item is defective/broken or faulty contact us as soon as possible to arrange a replacement or refund.
